La specifica tecnica definisce la classificazione e le specifiche degli oli e grassi animali e vegetali, dei loro principali intermedi e derivati ai fini del loro utilizzo quali combustibili per la produzione di energia. Sono compresi nel campo di applicazione della presente specifica tecnica gli intermedi (Glicerina) della lavorazione dell'Estere Metilico di Acidi Grassi (FAME) mentre è escluso l'Estere Metilico di Acidi Grassi (FAME) di cui alla UNI EN 14213 e alla UNI EN 14214. La classificazione e le specifiche riportate sono da intendersi esclusivamente per l'utilizzo degli oli e grassi animali e vegetali, dei loro principali intermedi e derivati come biocombustibile per la produzione di energia termica e/o elettrica e non trattano alcun altro utilizzo (per esempio l'autotrazione).
