La norma tratta la determinazione della prestazione acustica dei ventilatori industriali. Inoltre essa può essere utilizzata per determinare la prestazione acustica dei ventilatori in combinazione con un dispositivo complementare, oppure nel caso in cui il ventilatore sia attrezzato con un silenziatore, la potenza sonora risultante dalla combinazione fra il ventilatore e il silenziatore.
