Defines a general test method for the thermal evaluation and qualification of electrical insulation systems (EIS) and determines a method for comparing the performance of a candidate EIS to a reference EIS. Applies to existing or proposed EISs used for electrotechnical products which have an input voltage not in excess of 1000 V when the thermal factor is the dominant ageing factor.
