Diese Internationale Norm legt Anforderungen an Absaugkatheter aus Kunststoffen zur Verwendung im Atemtrakt fest. Absaugkatheter mit abgewinkeltem Patientenende (z. B. Coudé-Katheter und Absaugkatheter mit Aspirator- Sammlern werden nicht als Spezial-Absaugkatheter betrachtet und gehören deshalb zum Anwendungsbereich dieser Internationalen Norm.
