Festgelegt sind Prüfungen, die zur Qualifizierung von Schweissanweisungen angewendet werden dürfen, wenn keine besonderen Prüfungen nach einer entsprechenden Anwendungsnorm oder Konstruktionsbeschreibung anzuwenden sind. Behandelt ist das Pressstumpfschweissen und das Abbrennstumpfschweissen von metallischen Werkstoffen (Prozesse 25 und 24 nach ÖNORM EN ISO 4063), zB bei vollen, rohrförmigen, flachen, runden Querschnitten. Die Grundprinzipien dieser Norm dürfen auch für andere Widerstandsschweissprozesse angewendet werden, wenn dies in der Konstruktionsbeschreibung festgelegt wird. Die Prüfungen, die erforderlich sind, um das Schweissverfahren für eine(n) bestimmte(n) Bauteil/Baugruppe zu qualifizieren, hängen von der Ausführung und den Qualitätsanforderungen an den Bauteil/an die Baugruppe ab und sollten in der Konstruktionsbeschreibung festgelegt werden.
