La présente méthode permet la dégradation thermique en présence d'air de matières, matériaux ou de leur association dans des conditions spécifiées, en vue d'une analyse des gaz de combustion. Les méthodes d'analyses de certains gaz libérés ou générés lors de cette dégradation font l'objet de la partie 1 de la norme NF X 70-100. Cette méthode d'essai est proposée aux températures de 400 degrés C, 600 degrés C et 800 degrés C, étant entendu que, suivant la nature des gaz à doser ou les spécifications particulières, l'essai peut être réalisé à une ou plusieurs de ces températures.
