La présente partie de l'ISO 230 a pour but d'unifier les conditions techniques d'examen de la précision géométrique des machines-outils fonctionnant à vide ou dans des conditions de finition, à l'aide des vérifications géométriques et des essais d'usinage. Les méthodes peuvent également être appliquées à d'autres types de machines industrielles nécessitant des vérifications géométriques et des essais d'usinage.
