The purpose of this standard is to establish uniform requirements for cleaning and maintaining cleanliness of hardware. Equipment supplied under this standard shall be suitably clean for installation directly into a fluid system without further cleaning. It is extremely important that contamination be kept to a minimum to prevent adverse effects upon the system such as accelerating the corrosion and wear of equipment or changing the chemistry of the fluid in the system.
