Handbook provides guidelines in general for marking and color of Army materiel. (Finishes including treatments for coating/preservation, surface preparation or special requirements for specific Army design activies are not included in this handbook. Camouflaged exterior colors for active theaters of combat that need to comply with host country requirements are also not applicable to this handbook).

This handbook provides general guidelines for color and marking of Army material. It does not cover finishes, surface preparations, related treatments for preservation and coating, or special requirements specified by Army design activities. Moreover, this handbook does not apply to exterior colors of Army equipment under tactical conditions in active combat theaters of operation where such equipment may be painted Lusterless White No. 37875 in snow areas, or other colors or patterns deemed necessary for camouflage or for compliance with host country requirements.
