A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

The principle consists in preparation of an aqueous extract from a test portion of the leather, and measurement of the pH of the extract, using a pH meter. The definition of a difference figure of an aqueous leather extract is given. Reagents, apparatus, procedure and the test report are specified.
