Gives Bellcore's view of proposed generic quantitative objectives for reliability and quality measurements for telecommunications systems. Products covered include: End Office and Tandem Office switching system; Signaling Transfer Point, Packet Switch; Service Control Point; Digital Cross Connect; SONET Add/Drop Multiplexer; Digital Loop Carrier, etc. The measurements cover system availability, software quality, and hardware reliability. Intended to help the Bellcore Client Companies (BCCs) assess the field performance of telecommunications products against set objectives. These objectives are also intended to motivate suppliers to improve the reliability and quality of their products incrementally, with a goal of reaching the overall objectives.
