Applies to the design and construction of loadbearing structural members in steel construction, with predominantly static loading and material thicknesses equal to or exceeding 1,5 mm. Members of smaller material thickness, e.g. trapezoidal sections, may require additional specifications. DIN 4149 Part 1 also applies for structures in areas of Germany susceptible to earthquakes.
