Covers performance criteria for centrifuges for the use in biotechnological processes with respect to the potential risks of microorganisms in use for the worker or environment. Applies when the intended use of centrifuges includes hazardous or potentially hazardous microorganisms used in biotechnological processes and where exposure of the worker or environment to such microorganisms is restricted for reasons of safety. Applies to centrifuges with no auxiliary equipment and to systems equipped with all necessary auxiliary equipment e.g. probes, valves, steam traps, and filters, necessary for operation of centrifuges and to achieve cleaning and sterilization.
