Defines the requisites for cold rolled martensitic and austenitic stainless steel strip for the manufacture of springs. Relates to material from 0.1 mm to 5 mm inclusive in thickness and from 3.15 mm to 450 mm inclusive in width and austenitic steels 301S21, 302S25 and 316S16 provided in one of five temper rolled conditions, having any one of four edge conditions and with any one of three surface finishes. Also included are martensitic steels 420S29 and 420S45 provided in one of two conditions, having one of four edge conditions, and a single surface finish. Included are sections on steelmaking, chemical composition, mechanical properties, edge conditions, skin pass and surface finish.
