Describes the concept of ensuring electrical safety in hazardous areas by using type of protection 'e': increased safety, and gives advice (for this type of electrical apparatus) on selection, installation and maintenance. The code does not apply to the underground mining industry, but it may be applied to the surface installations of mines. Apparatus with type of protection 'e': increased safety is meant for use in areas with vapour and flammable gas risks. Also gives a description of the increased safety technique and definitions with explanations of terms.
