This method is for determining total nitrogen in light aromatic hydrocarbons, such as benzene. It is applicable to quantitative determination of nitrogen at a level of 30 to 400 ng/g. Samples containing more than 400 ng/g nitrogen can be analyzed according to ASTM D 4629 or D 6069. Halogen and sulfur-containing compounds can interfere if any one or all of these elements are present in a sample in concentration greater than 10%.
