This Standard sets out requirements for the installation and maintenance of spray painting booths and paint mixing rooms complying with AS/NZS 4114.1 and designated spray painting areas. A designated spray painting area is not for general use but is to be used only where the use of a spray painting booth is not practicable. This Standard is to be read in conjunction with AS/NZS 2381.1, which describes the fundamental considerations that affect the installation and maintenance of all electrical apparatus used in areas termed hazardous areas where an explosive atmosphere is likely to be present. Requirements for the design, construction and testing of spray painting booths and paint mixing rooms are given in AS/NZS 4114.1.
