Specifies general requirements for vertical shaft mine winding conveyance suspension equipment for use in underground mines. Design, materials, manufacture, and testing are specified. Appendices provide requirements for 1.5 manganese steel, recommendations for inspection and maintenance, design guidelines for loaded holes and pins, and information on ruling section and equivalent section.

This Standard specifies general requirements for suspension equipment used in vertical mine shafts.NOTE: Recommendations for inspection and maintenance are given in Appendix B.
