This Standard sets out methods for measuring the Vickers hardness of metals and metalproducts using forces between 9.8 N and 980 N inclusive. It does not apply for the use of forces below9.8 N. It includes requirements for the installation and calibration of the testing machine, andrecommendations for its maintenance by the user. This Standard does not apply to portable hardness testing machines.
