WIDEBAND AND BROADBAND DIGITAL CROSS-CONNECT SYSTEMS GENERIC CRITERIA

Establishes Telcordia's view on the generic functional criteria for Wideband and Broadband Digital Cross-Connect Systems (W-DCSs and B-DCSs) used in the inter-office networks. W-DCS provides Synchronous Optical Network (SONET), DS3 (44.736 Mbps) and clear channel DS1 (1.544 Mbps) interfaces and the basic functions of a floating Virtual Tributary 1.5 (VT 1.5) and DS1 level cross-connection. B-DCS provides SONET and clear channel DS3 interfaces and the basic function of Synchronous Transport Signal Level 1 (STS-1) and DS3-level cross-connections. Criteria applicable to a DCS 3/1 is also included in this document.
