The procedure is designed to determine the Marshall stability and Marshall flow value of bituminous materials as parameters for their resistance to mechanical stressing. Used for testing of granulometrically graded, almost pore-free, hot laid bituminous materials. This procedure is only applicable to a limited extent to mixtures containing cut-back bitumen, bitumen emulsions or cold tar as a binder, and to bituminous macadam-like mixtures. It is not applicable to mixtures containing more than 15% by wt. particles larger than 22,4 mm. The procedure is not suitable for mastic asphalt and mastic.
