The scope of the standard has been modified to include the optional use of carbon monoxide detectors as part of the alarm system in dwellings where there is a risk of CO poisoning. Carbon monoxide detectors were not covered in the previous edition.

Requirements and test methods for equipment intended for use in LAVs have been removed from the scope. It was felt that with the robustness of the requirements for the individual system components, there was no need to complicate system requirements by adding additional tests.
