This Standard specifies requirements for appliances used for the hoisting of materials or materials and personnel involved in lifting the materials that are not covered by other parts of AS 1418. It is complementary to AS 1418.1 but requirements given herein take precedence over corresponding requirements in AS 1418.1. NOTES: 1 General guidance on the safe use of the appliances covered by this Standard is given in AS 2550.1.2 Requirements for appliances intended to support work platforms are given in AS 1418.10.
