This handbook specifies rules for the structure and drafting of Australian Standards and joint Australian/New Zealand Standards where the secretariat is held by Standards Australia. As far as practicable, these rules also apply to interim standards, technical reports and technical specifications. The rules do not apply to rulings or handbooks. All these document types are referred to collectively hereinafter as documents, unless otherwise necessary. The rules are intended to ensure that such documents, prepared by the committee secretariats are drafted in as uniform a manner as practicable, irrespective of the technical content. This handbook also gives some guidance with regard to presentation.
