The Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) is a federal authority of the Bundeswehr. It is the Department of Defense in the Federal Ministry of Defense subordinates. It is intended to 'cover the direct and indirect needs of the armed forces.' These include the development, testing and the purchase of defense materiel of all types, the change of defense materiel, the military technical standardization and the implementation of the Quality Assurance and Testing.
