In Germany, 14 companies process around 250,000 tons of cocoa beans per year. If one adds the net imports of cocoa butter, powder and mass, the German cocoa and chocolate industry processed a bean equivalent totaling 362,757 t last year; this corresponds to about 12% of the world harvest.
