Proposes dimensions for steel blank flanges, copper alloy and steel plate flanges, ductile cast iron screw-on-flanges, ductile cast iron, and grey cast iron for fittings integral flanges (with neck) and copper alloy, grey cast iron and steel for valves integral flanges (without neck) for ranges of nominal size and class. Proposed material specifications for copper alloy, ductile cast iron, grey cast iron and steel are included. The proposed flanges are primarily intended for waterworks purposes with temperatures of less than 60 degrees Celsius and maximum allowable hydrostatic test pressure up to 7000 kPa. Proposed methods for the attachment of plate flanges are also given. Proposed requirements for the selection of bolting and assembly of flanged joints are included. Deletion of details for flange joints in AS 2280 will be concurrent with the publication of this Standard.
