Describes the principles of chromating aluminium substrates and specifies methods of testing the chromate coatings. It applies to refined aluminium and primary aluminium as in DIN 1712-1 and DIN 1712-3, wrought aluminium alloys and cast aluminium alloys as in DIN 1725-1 to DIN 1725-3, as well as aluminium-clad materials.
