1.1 This British Standard specifies the design requirements for a range of quick-release couplings with involute spline drive primarily for aircraft engine/gearbox accessories which require to be removed whilst the engine/gearbox is in service.
1.2 The following items are subject to agreement between the engine/gearbox manufacturer and accessory manufacturer:
- Quill shaft design and length of spline engagement.
- Linear and geometrical tolerances affecting the splined drive.
- Angular spacing of oil transfer tubes or location pins if more than one is to be fitted.
- The provision for accepting the torque reaction.
- Arrangements for lubricating the splined drive.
