This British Standard applies to ferrous and non-ferrous tubing supplied in straight lengths in a suitable condition for the fabrication of the pressure-responsive components of gauges and instruments operating on the Bourdon principle.
Detailed chemical compositions are specified and a series of sections, with appropriate tolerances, is specified for “oval” tubing.
The types of tubing specified are as follows:
Non-ferrous | Section |
Beryllium copper | 2 |
Brass | 3 |
Phosphor bronze | 4 |
Ferrous | |
Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel | 5 |
Stainless steel | 6 |
Iron-nickel-chromium-titanium (precipitation hardening) alloy | 7 |
