This standard sets out two ways of ascertaining the numerical value of the density of mercury where-(a) the impurities in the mercury do not exceed five parts in one million, by mass;(b) the temperature is not less than 0C nor greater than 40C; and(c) the pressure is not less than 10 MPa.NOTE: The value of the density of.mercury is proclaimed in a Determination by the National Standards Commission-Recognised-value Standard of Measurement of Density-Mercury, dated 21 March 1985, in accordance with the National Measurement Act 1960.
