Die Norm enthält Prüfverfahren für die Prüfung polymerer Isolier- und Mantelwerkstoffe von Kabeln und isolierten Leitungen zur Energieverteilung und Nachrichtenübertragung einschliesslich Schiffskabeln. Dieser Hauptabschnitt 1 des Teils 1 beschreibt Verfahren zur Messung der Wanddicke und der Aussenmasse sowie zur Bestimmung der mechanischen Eigenschaften der gebräuchlichsten Typen von Isolier- und Mantelwerkstoffen (Elastomere, PVC, PE, PP usw.).
