Annex A (informative) Typical measuring ranges for
some common coating materials
Specifies methods for measuring the thickness of metallic coatings by the use of X-ray spectrometric methods. Measuring methods are those that determine the mass per unit area. Results of measurements can be expressed by the knowledge of the density of the coating material, it permits measurement upto three layers of components. Practical measurement ranges of coating materials are determined by the energy of the X-ray.
