Diese Norm gilt für den instrumentierten Kerbschlagbiegeversuch nach Charpy (V-Kerb) an Stahlerzeugnissen und legt die Anforderungen an die Messeinrichtungen und die Auswerteverfahren fest. Die Anwendung dieser Norm kann Prüfungen von anderen metallischen Werkstoffen vereinbart werden. Mit der Prüfung können weitergehende Aussagen über das Bruchverhalten des zu prüfenden Werkstoffs gewonnen werden.
