Festgelegt sind die Anforderungen an die Konstruktion, Herstellung, Prüfung und Inspektion von federbelasteten Sicherheitsventilen, damit die Wirkung unzulässiger Überdrücke verringert wird, die durch Wärmeausdehnung oder durch Brände entstehen können. Die Festlegungen gelten für Sicherheitsventile an ortsfesten Flüsiggasbehältern sowie Flüssiggasbehältern auf Tankwagen, Schienenfahrzeugen, Tankcontainern oder abnehmbaren Tanks.
