Diese Norm legt die besonderen Anforderungen an bandbeschichtete Bleche und Bänder aus Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen für allgemeine Anwendungen fest. Diese Erzeugnisse werden üblicherweise in Dicken bis 3,0 mm geliefert. Sie gilt für kaltgewalzte Bänder aus Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen, die durch ein Bandbeschichtungsverfahren beschichtet werden, in Endbreite oder nach der Beschichtung längsgeteilt werden, bzw. für Bleche, die aus diesen Bändern hergestellt werden. Sie gilt nicht für Sonderanwendungen dieser bandbeschichteten Bleche und Bänder wie beispielsweise Dosen, Verschlüsse und Deckel, die in EN 541 behandelt werden.
