A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Purpose is to define and promote the use of a standard code for the unique identification of recordings. The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) may be applied to audio recordings and music video recordings regardless of whether they are in analogue or digital formats.
