Describes three levels of safety integrity (Safety Integrity Levels, SIL) that may be used to specify the capability that a safety instrumented function must achieve to accomplish the required risk reduction. It also provides methodologies for evaluating SIF to determine if they achieve the specific SIL. It may also be referred to as a probability of failure on demand (PFD) evaluation of the SIF.
