Gives Telcordia's view of proposed criteria for single fiber optical splicing, both mechanical splices and fusion splices. Both active alignment (or core alignment) and passive alignment fusion splicing are considered. Contains also, criteria that is meant to govern the ability of fusion splicing equipment to assemble complete splices, including protection devices, but does not contain criteria for the fusion splice protectors themselves.
