Für diese Norm gilt der Anwendungsbereich und Zweck nach DIN VDE 0800 Teil 1/05.89, Abschnitt 1. Diese Norm enthält DIN VDE 0800 Teil 8 ergänzende Anforderungen und Prüfungen zu den KU-Werten sicherheitsbezogener Bauelemente und Isolierungen für Fernmeldegeräte oder Fernmeldeanlagen. Anmerkung: Vorwiegend beim Herstellen der Geräte wird sich die Frage nach den KU-Werten sicherheitsbezogener Bauelemente oder Isolierungen stellen; jedoch werden auch beim Errichten der Anlagen Anwendungsfälle für Bauelemente oder Isolierungen mit ausreichenden KU-Werten vorkommen.
