Dieser Teil von ISO 8528 beschreibt die Anforderungen und Kennwerte für Auslegung und Ausführung von Stromerzeugungsaggregaten mit Hubkolben-Verbrennungsmotoren unter Bezug auf die in ISO 8528-1 bis ISO 8528-6 festgelegten Definitionen. Er gilt für Stromerzeugungsaggregate mit Hubkolbenz-Verbrennungsmotoren für Land- und Schiffseinsatz. Er gilt nicht für Stromerzeugungsaggregate für Flugzeuge und für den Antrieb von Landfahrzeugen und Lokomotiven. Sind für bestimmte Anwendungen (z. B. Ersatzstromversorgung in Krankenhäusern, Hochhäusern) ergänzende Festlegungen zu treffen, so sind die Festlegungen dieses Teils von ISO 8528 zugrunde zu legen. Für andere Hubkolben-Kraftmaschinen (z. B. Klärgasmotoren, Dampfmotoren) sollte dieser Teil von ISO 8528 als Grundlage angewandt werden.
