                      Non-destructive testing of steel
                      tubes

Defines criteria for magnetic particle inspection of the end/bevel face at the ends of welded and seamless ferromagnetic steel tubes for detection of laminar imperfections. For use in detection of laminar imperfections on the end/bevel face at the ends of bevelled and plain end tubes which could interfere with subsequent inspection and fabrication operations, e.g. welding and ultrasonic inspection of the welds. May also be used to detect imperfections other than laminar imperfections on the end/bevel face, in which case, magnetization shall be applied in a direction essentially perpendicular to the orientation of the particular imperfections to be detected.
