I metodi qualitativi sono usati per controllare se un olio isolante a base idrocarburica contiene o no un additivo antiossidante come dichiarato dal fornitore. I metodi quantitativi sono usati per il dosaggio degli additivi antiossidanti, precedentemente individuati con l'appropriato metodo qualitativo.
