1.1This test method is for the determination of the individual organic volatile compounds of waterborne multi-component coatings using gas chromatography (see Note 1).

1.2The method has also been used successfully to determine the speciated volatile organic content of solvent-borne multi-component coatings. Work is continuing to develop this aspect of the method and will be added to the method at a later date.

Note 1Currently there are no methods for the direct analysis of the VOC content of waterborne multi-component coatings. The VOC content of solvent-borne multi-component coatings is determined directly by a simple weight loss determination of the mixed components (Test Method D2369).

1.3The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.

1.4This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Some specific hazards statements are given in Section 7 on Hazards.
