This Standard specifies requirements for helmets designed to protect the head from a blowby a heavy or sharp object, as well as adverse environmental conditions likely to beencountered in structural firefighting.This Standard specifies performance criteria for faceshields, ear and neck protectors wherethese are fitted to the helmet. Other accessories are not covered by this Standard.Those organizations having responsibility for other specialist functions, e.g. bushfirefighting, are urged to use protective equipment specifically designed for these activities e.g. Type 3 helmets specified in AS/NZS 1801.
