This Standard specifies requirements for an organic zinc-rich primer intended to protect iron and steel against atmospheric corrosion. It is suitable for application by brush, roller or spray. Type 2 paint specified in the Standard is referred to in AS 2312 as Paint Reference No. 2.NOTES:1 This paint may be used as detailed for systems MP1-B, MP2-C, MP2-D, MP5-E, MP5-F, MP5-G, MP5-H, MP9-B, MP10-B, LP1-E, LP1-F, LP1-G, LP1-H, LP2-D, LP2-E and LP2-F in AS 2312.Appendix A contains recommendations and advice on information which should be provided by the purchaser at the time of enquiry or order. Additional information on the use and application of organic zinc-rich primer is provided in Appendix B. Alternative methods for determining compliance with this Standard are contained in Appendix C.
