Specifies a spectrophotometric method for the determination of aluminium content in the range of 0.002 percent to 1.4 percent aluminium in all types of iron and steel. The method uses a mercury cathode, followed by solvent extraction to separate interfering elements, with alizarin red S to produce a chromogen which is measured at a wavelength of 490nm.
