This Standard specifies design, construction and marking requirements and test methods for decorative gas log, coal or other fuel effect fires with gas consumptions not exceeding 72 MJ/h. Two types of appliances are covered as defined in Clause 1.2. The scope of this Standard is limited to appliances that are designed primarily to have a decorative appearance. The following are excluded from the scope of this Standard:(a) Appliances intended for space heating (in the form of radiant or convected heat). Requirements for such appliances are set out in AS 4553.(b) Indoor flueless appliances.Figures referred to in the text and methods of test (M.O.T) are set out in Appendices A and G.Methods of test are set out in Appendix B. The M.O.T. number corresponds to the relevant clause in the text.
