Specifies the test conditions and test procedures for the performance ratings of electrically driven refrigerated package air-conditioners that are made either as single-unit appliances or split systems, with or without heating capabilities. It provides for testing by air-enthalpy methods, those appliances that because of their size cannot be tested by the room calorimeter methods specified in AS 1861.1.

This Standard specifies the data to be presented, and the related test conditions and test procedures, for the performance ratings of electrically driven refrigerated package air-conditioners that are made either as single-unit appliances or split systems, with or without heating capabilities. It provides for the testing by enthalpy methods of those appliances that because of their size cannot be tested by the room-calorimeter methods specified in AS 1681.1.NOTES:1 See Preface and Foreword for an account of the size ranges intended to be covered by AS 1861.2, and the relationship between AS 1861.1 and AS 1861.2.2 The test conditions and procedures have been devised with the most usual application of these units in mind, i.e. cooling and heating for human comfort. It is recognized that other applications, e.g. industrial atmosphere control, or drying, may require special conditions, of performance, airflow etc, in which case the test method should be modified to reflect such conditions.
