This Standard specifies requirements for mechanical jointing fittings suitable for use with polyethylene pipes manufactured in accordance with AS 1159 or AS 2698.2. This Standard is applicable to fittings manufactured for use in the conveyance of water in water supply, agricultural, industrial, and other applications.NOTES:1. Advisory information on alternative methods of determining compliance of a 'lot' with this Standard is given in Appendix A.2. Fittings may be suitable for use with fluids other than water. Advice should be sought from the manufacturer.3. Tests specified in Clauses 11.2.1, 11.2.2, 11.2.3, 11.2.4 and 11.2.5 are type tests performed to assess compliance of finished product with this Standard, however it may also be convenient for product manufacturers to use those tests for quality control purposes during manufacture.
